Lanao del Norte Mayor’s Life Story Dominates 73rd FAMAS Awards

Nunungan, Lanao del Norte Mayor Mamay Marcos was overjoyed and overwhelmed after his first project under Mamay Productions, Mamay: A Journey To Greatness, bagged five major awards and two special awards at the recently concluded 73rd FAMAS Awards held at The Manila Hotel on August 22.
The very next day, after the big win, he hosted a victory party to thank everyone involved in the film and all those who supported the project.
Speaking to the media, Mayor Mamay expressed how happy he was. He said the recognition is an inspiration and that he will continue producing films to help the Philippine movie industry. He revealed that two new films are already lined up, though he has not yet announced their casts.
He also shared that he has been in talks with the Department of Education to bring the film to different schools across the country. There will also be block screenings, and the movie will be shown abroad in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Pakistan, among others.
Mamay: A Journey To Greatness tells the inspiring life story of Mayor Mamay, from his childhood to his journey as a successful public servant. The film aims to give hope to Filipinos by showing that poverty is not a barrier to education, dreams, and success in life.
The movie stars Jeric Raval as Mayor Mamay, along with Ara Mina, Teejay Marquez, Victor Neri, Sabrina M, Baby Go, Katrina Paula, Alvin Fortuna, Dennis Colonel, Polo Ravales, Julio Diaz, Via Veloso, and many more. It was directed by Neil “Buboy” Tan.
The awards the film received include:
Best Supporting Actor – Jeric Raval
Best Production Design – Cyprus Khan
Best Cinematography – Gilbert Obispo
Best Musical Score – Neil “Buboy” Tan
Best Original Theme Song – Hamon performed by Gerard Santos, composed by Vehnee Saturno
The two special awards were:
Film Producer of the Year – Mamay Productions
Presidential Awardee – Hon. Marcos Mamay
