Marco Sison to Hold First Solo Concert at The Theatre of Solaire
By Boy Romero
After decades of singing other people’s heartbreaks, Marco Sison is finally owning the stage. His first ever solo major concert, Seasons of OPM, is happening on July 25 at The Theatre of Solaire, Paranaque.
It’s not just a tribute to his long career. It’s a personal statement.
Rey Valera. Nonoy Zuniga. Martin Nievera. Vice Ganda. That lineup speaks for itself.
Marco also looked back. He talked about the original OPM Hitmakers: himself, Rico Puno, Hajji Alejandro, Rey Valera, and Nonoy Zuniga. Now, only three of them are left. The loss of the late Rico, and the absence of Hajji, left a space he doesn’t want filled. “Walang kapalit,” he said. “Hindi sila matutumbasan.”
So what now for the three of them? Marco says that’s enough. No additions. Just bringing in iconic women when it feels right. Lani Misalucha. Zsazsa Padilla. Kuh Ledesma. Vina Morales. Women who don’t need introductions.
But one name that stood out? Christian Bautista. Marco sees a bit of himself in Christian. Both came from singing contests. Both quietly built their names, with no drama.
The show is under the musical direction of Louie Ocampo, and directed by Calvin Neria. Produced by Echo Jham and Toplex Advertising.
Marco isn’t chasing the past. He just wants to keep going. A new song. A few more shows. Maybe one more moment that hits the way the old ones did. He’s not trying to prove anything. But this concert feels personal. It’s about showing he still has something to say. Just the music, and the man behind it.
